Stating the Obvious

When I plugged my headphones into my computer today my RealTek HD Audio Manager gave me the following message:

I could say so many sarcastic things like "Duh!" or "No! Really?", but I won't. Sigh.

Why?! Why would they do this? I'm sure someone thought this was a good idea at some point. Maybe they were trying to prevent some sort of customer service issue by notifying people of what they were doing but, really, the ports are already different colors and the connectors have icons on them. Plus, there's usually only two ports you can plug this kind of device into. If the first one does not work, try the other!

Worst of all, there's not even an option to turn the notifications off!

DOUBLE SHAME ON YOU!

DND

Do Not Disturb. That's what I have my work phone set to. Why? Well, let me count the reasons:
  • It takes forever to retrieve a voicemail (like, 30+ seconds!)
  • There are better, more direct, and faster, ways to contact me that also leave a record (email!)
  • I have a low volume of calls
It is my opinion that if you call me, and it's important, you will leave a message. In the last 3 months, I've received about 4 voice mails and 3 of them were solicitors. The other voicemail regarded an issue I already knew about because they emailed me!

Today, my boss was working remote and having connectivity issues, so I took my phone off DND so he could reach me. The *ONLY* call I received was from, you guessed it, a solicitor. After I hung up with the solicitor, I turned DND back on. That'll learn me...
